Our New Solo “Spirit’s Own” at TMC

Last weekend found us doing one of our favorite activities: singing the solo at The Mother Church in Boston. Whereas for past TMC solos we did songs that we’d already written, this time we composed a brand new song specifically for that service! You can listen to it until Saturday – just two more days! – at the online church service page. The solo starts at 26 minutes. Have a listen! The music itself had actually been composed already, but in solo piano form for Jay’s recent album Piano on 24th. We chose the track Selkie Crossroads and Tessa listened to it while studying the Bible Lesson for last week, then wrote lyrics to it and named the new song Spirit’s Own. Several people have kindly asked us about sheet music availability for...

Love-A-Thon

Big thanks to 7th Church of Christ, Scientist, Washington DC, for inviting us to play music for their annual Love-a-Thon! It is quite an event and we have enjoyed it very much the past couple of years. It is a musical program put on by 7th church and another Christian church from the neighborhood, and the theme this year was overcoming fear with Love. Tessa wasn’t able to make it this time, but fortunately our good friend Allison was able to step in and grace us with her beautiful soprano. We performed Father of Lights and then led the audience in singing the great gospel song Total Praise (by Richard Smallwood). The live recordings are below – enjoy! Father of Lights (sung by Allison Rose-Sonnesyn) Total...

‘Father of Lights’ performed in Boston

Father of Lights, a track from our 2012 album Soulshine, was performed earlier today at The Mother Church in Boston! We are so thrilled to contribute in this way to the Christian Science movement. You are invited to listen to the recorded broadcast of this morning’s church service – our solo starts at about 28:08, and is sung beautifully by Rebecca Minor 🙂 Read lyrics to Father of Lights » View piano and organ sheet music...

New Song: O Gentle Presence

Greetings! This month we are happy to share our new musical setting to Mary Baker’s Poem Mother’s Evening Prayer. Our focus when composing it was the first line “O gentle presence, peace, and joy, and power,” which we worked to express in music. Please enjoy listening to the full studio draft recording – it’ll be on this page for a week or two. Hoping to have it in an album early next year! You can also find sheet music and the recording for download at Watchfire Music.
