Jay is always looking around for a piano and Tessa has been singing her way through life since she was knee-high to a grasshopper!
The duo began performing together in 2009, both as budding jazz musicians in Seattle and as church musicians for a number of Christian Science branch churches in the area. They married in 2011 and later relocated to Washington, DC, where they started a family. They continue to compose new inspirational songs and perform weekly at church services.
Tessa E. B. Frost is a folk singer with forays into musical theater, opera, and jazz. She’s performed in Idaho, Illinois, Massachusetts, Washington state, Maryland, Virginia, DC, and in La Musa Café in Peru.
Singing and songwriting have become well-traveled avenues for spiritual growth and learning love, and Tessa welcomes both the challenge and the joy of each new song. Her voice is pure and true, a window and a light. Listen for a moment to hear the clear tone and soulful stylings of her musical influences: Whitney Houston, Ella Fitzgerald, Blossom Dearie, The Wailin’ Jennys, and Joni Mitchell, to name a few.
Jay A. H. Frost has been playing piano professionally for over 15 years aside from his work with Tessa in inspirational music – he’s played in a rock band, with his own jazz trio, numerous solo piano gigs for private and corporate events, and currently as a Washington DC Pianist.
As his fingers race across the keys, deftly chasing the next New Orleans jazz baseline, it’s impossible to miss the inherent musicality and joyous abandon that he brings to each song. You may also be able to pick out a number of Jay’s musical heroes – Dave Brubeck, Vince Guaraldi, and Harry Connick Jr. Jay studied piano with acclaimed jazz pianist Randy Halberstadt and has had several of his own students.
I just listened to your solo Let There Be Light, Mrs Eddy’s hymn Love. Do you have a CD of this and any other of Mrs Eddy’s hymns or other hymns that I could purchase?
Hello Don,
Glad you enjoyed Let There Be Light – we do in fact have a few other settings that we have written for Mary Baker Eddy poems. Two can be found on our WatchFire Music composer page and we’re working on getting more online that are already composed.
I just came across the link to sheet music for musical settings to Mary Baker Eddy poems that we’ve composed, which includes the two audio versions above.
